Use and Care of Cloth Diapers for Babies

Both cloth diapers and disposable diapers are available in the market. A baby’s health and proper care is very important to its parents. Using cloth diaper is a healthier option. It has certain benefits as well.

Use of cloth diapers are generally re used. Cloth diapers can sustain up to 80 to 100 washes. Disposable diapers take a long time to dispose and it affects the environment. Thus cloth diapers are environmentally friendly and also a healthy choice for your baby.

Cloth diaper is also an effective choice. Initially cloth diapers can be expensive but it can be re used for a number of times and thus saves money in the long run. Compared to disposable diapers, cloth diaper is considered as an economical choice.

Many disposable diapers use chemicals and materials that may cause skin rashes for your child. Lack of air flow in a disposable diaper also causes wetness and skin irritations. The chemicals used in disposable diapers may result in allergic reactions in some babies.

Cloth diapers are sold in different sizes and shapes. Generally cloth diapers are available as pre-fold diapers, fitted diapers, snap to fits diaper, contour shaped diapers, all in one diapers, flat cloth diapers etc. Use of cloth diapers also requires diaper pins for proper fitting.

Cleaning cloth diaper is another important thing. Both durability of the diapers and baby’s health are to be kept in mind. Baby’s diapers should be washed separately from other laundry. A mild detergent may be used to wash cloth diapers. Some prefer to soak cloth diapers overnight for effective cleaning. Alternatively hot and cold water can be used to wash cloth diapers for babies. While washing cloth diapers, antiseptic and anti bacterial solutions can be also used.

If you are using a machine dryer for drying cloth diapers then maximum heat should be used. Bleach should be avoided for cloth diapers as it may cause allergic reaction to baby’s soft skin.
